About RPWD Act 2016

The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 is a comprehensive legislation that replaced the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995. It significantly expands rights and entitlements for persons with disabilities, increases the number of recognized disabilities from 7 to 21, and provides for punitive measures for discrimination. The Act is based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
